This complimentary consultation provides a safe space to discuss what you’re looking for in care, ask questions, and explore whether Mind & Microbiome Psychiatry may be a supportive next step for you. No treatment is provided during this visit; the purpose is simply to connect, clarify your goals, and determine alignment before moving forward.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

Your initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to develop an understanding of your current concerns, psychiatric symptoms, relevant medical history, personal background, relationships, and the biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual factors that may be influencing your mental health.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, recognizing that emotional well-being is shaped by multiple interacting influences rather than symptoms alone. The evaluation includes exploration of your history, current functioning, strengths, goals, and factors that may contribute to or maintain distress. When clinically appropriate, we may also discuss developmental, relational, and life experiences that provide important context for your presentation.

The evaluation incorporates therapeutic interviewing to promote understanding, clarify diagnostic considerations, and begin identifying treatment priorities. While the initial visit may include supportive and insight-oriented interventions, it is primarily an assessment intended to inform individualized treatment recommendations.

Recommendations may include psychotherapy, lifestyle and behavioral interventions, medication, additional diagnostic evaluation, laboratory testing, referrals, or a combination of these approaches. Medication is prescribed only when clinically indicated and after discussion of the potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and your preferences.

With your written consent, coordination with your therapist, primary care clinician, or other members of your treatment team may be recommended to support continuity and integrated care.

Trauma-Informed, Nervous System–Aware Care

Many symptoms reflect patterns of nervous system adaptation to stress and lived experience. Care is oriented toward understanding these patterns with clarity and compassion, supporting greater regulation, steadiness, and resilience over time.

Please note: Not intended for urgent concerns or crisis situations.

Psychotherapy and Ongoing Follow-Up Care

Follow-up appointments are designed to provide thoughtful, ongoing psychiatric care through an integrated approach that combines psychotherapy with medication management when clinically appropriate. Care is collaborative, individualized, and guided by your goals, values, and evolving treatment needs.

Psychotherapy is a central component of ongoing treatment. Sessions provide space to explore current concerns while fostering greater insight into the emotional, relational, developmental, and physiological patterns that contribute to distress. Treatment emphasizes emotional regulation, self-understanding, and meaningful, sustainable change over time.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, integrative psychiatry, together, we consider not only symptoms but also the broader context in which they arise, including nervous system functioning, attachment patterns, developmental experiences, trauma, and other factors that shape well-being.

Medication is prescribed thoughtfully and only when clinically indicated. When used, it is integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan rather than serving as the sole focus of care. Decisions regarding medication are made collaboratively after discussing the potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and your treatment preferences.

Treatment recommendations are reviewed and refined over time based on your clinical presentation, response to treatment, and evolving goals.
