We prioritize a safe, supportive space to understand your needs and explore next steps together.

This complimentary consultation provides a safe space to discuss what you’re looking for in care, ask questions, and explore whether Mind & Microbiome Psychiatry may be a supportive next step for you. No treatment is provided during this visit; the purpose is simply to connect, clarify your goals, and determine alignment before moving forward.

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

During your first appointment, we create a collaborative space designed to understand you—not just a list of symptoms or diagnoses. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, whole-person psychiatric care that considers the mind, body, and, when desired, spiritual perspectives. We explore your emotional, psychological, physical, and social history, including medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle factors. Rather than focusing solely on labels, we look at patterns, life experiences, and the broader context shaping your mental health.

Psychotherapy is a cornerstone of care. From the very first session, we begin therapeutic work aimed at insight, emotional regulation, and meaningful, sustainable change. Emotional and relational needs are also addressed, because lasting healing often begins there.

Medication is introduced when clinically indicated, carefully and collaboratively, always as one part of a comprehensive treatment plan and never the sole solution. Decisions are guided by your goals, values, and clinical needs.

Mental Status and Safety Assessment
A mental status examination is conducted, and safety considerations are discussed, including assessment of stress, trauma, risk factors, and coping strategies.

Trauma-Informed and Nervous System–Aware Care
Many symptoms are rooted in stress, trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. We focus on understanding how your nervous system responds to life experiences and work toward restoring balance, safety, and resilience.

Exploring Contributing Factors
We look beyond surface symptoms to address factors such as:

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • Trauma and adverse life experiences

  • Emotional and relational patterns

  • Sleep, lifestyle, and gut–brain interactions

  • Faith or spiritual considerations, if desired

Mental health is inseparable from physical and emotional well-being. For those who wish to include spiritual practices, faith-informed or prayer-centered approaches are available as an optional, patient-led part of care, always incorporated with respect, consent, and clinical oversight.

Psychotherapy and Ongoing Follow-Up Care

Your 45-minute follow-up appointments provide extended, supportive continuity of care. Each session includes psychotherapy, reflection on current concerns and progress, support for nervous system regulation, and medication management when clinically indicated. Treatment decisions are collaborative and guided by your goals, values, and overall plan.

Psychotherapy is a cornerstone of care at Mind & Microbiome Psychiatry. From the very first session, therapeutic work begins with a focus on emotional regulation, insight, relational patterns, and meaning - creating the conditions for change that is steady and lasting rather than rushed or symptom-driven.

Care is provided within a trauma-informed, whole-person psychiatric framework that recognizes the interconnectedness of the nervous system, the gut-brain axis, lived experience, and emotional safety. Sessions are designed to help you understand not only what you are feeling, but why - and how those patterns may be shaped by stress physiology, attachment experiences, trauma, or prolonged emotional strain.

Medication is considered thoughtfully and intentionally - not as a default - and always within the context of a broader therapeutic process aimed at clarity, integration, and long-term resilience.
